The Washington DC area is known for its place on the world stage, but many are drawn to its historic charm. If you are an American History fan like me, you absolutely do not take for granted the enchantment of the beautiful sites and stories that the Washington, D.C. area has to offer. One of my favorite wedding ceremony venues is one nestled in the upscale neighborhood of Georgetown.
The Tudor Place as it is now known, was once the bustling household of the descendants of Martha Washington, (George Washington’s Wife). It was built by Martha Washington’s granddaughter and her husband, Thomas Peter. The home stands along a residential area on 31st street and not too far from the Dumbarton Oaks House & Garden. It is everything you imagined and more, of the period houses of the nascent nation. A tour of this beautiful structure will paint your imagination with images of tea parties, women in long dresses and men arriving via horseback or carriage.
Tudor Place is a perfect venue for an intimate wedding or gathering. Just outside the house is it’s gorgeous gardens, which attract bees and humans alike. With a mix of natural landscaping and stone paths, this is the perfect place to hold a garden style wedding ceremony. The unforgettable bowling green, adorned with a lily pond and fountain adds to the natural beauty of this coveted location. The ambiance of the greenery, blended in with the seasons, creates a romantic atmosphere for the new chapter of a love story. If only the trees could talk and tell us all the beautiful things that have occurred under their watchful eyes.
If you imagine yourself, marrying the love of your life, in an intimate historic location under the bows of trees and in the gardens of the descendants of our nation’s founding father, then I would highly recommend visiting the Tudor Place and scheduling a tour. If you would like to take me along your wedding adventure as both a fan of this gorgeous location and as a wedding planner and coordinator, don’t waste a moment to contact me HERE.
